How fees work

  • Insurance we work with

We are out of network, so we don't bill health plans directly. Some plans reimburse out-of-network acupuncture when you send in a receipt, and others don't cover it. Ask your plan before your first visit.

    • Most PPO plans: ask whether they reimburse out-of-network acupuncture

    • HMO plans: often not, so ask

  • If you pay yourself

Visits are paid at the time of service. We tell you the fee for your first visit and for each visit after it before the first needle, by phone, text or email. We keep a few reduced-fee visits open each week: ask when you book. HSA and FSA cards can often be used: ask your plan administrator.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After every visit we give you an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can send to your plan. Your plan decides what it reimburses. Before you send it, ask your plan:

    • Is there an acupuncture benefit?

    • How many visits does it allow?

    • Is there a copay or a deductible?

    • Do I need a referral?

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one in writing before your first visit. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

Because we are out of network, we can't check your benefits for you. Call your plan before your first visit and ask the questions above. We are glad to answer anything about the receipt.

  • What the first visit includes

A first visit takes about 75 minutes: a conversation, a treatment and a plan. We share its fee with you in advance, as above, and a baby is always welcome.
