Care
Ear seeds
Tiny seeds on small adhesive dots, placed on points on the ear. There are no needles.
Your acupuncturist places a few seeds and shows you how to press them gently a few times a day. You wear them for several days and take them off yourself.
Who usually chooses them
People who would rather not have needles
People who want something to do between visits
Partners and relatives, as well as patients

A visit
What a visit is like, in order
- 01
Step 1: We talk
About how you are, how you sleep and whether you have had acupuncture before.
- 02
Step 2: You sit
Seated or in a recliner, whichever is most comfortable.
- 03
Step 3: The seeds
A few seeds go on each ear. You feel gentle pressure, never a needle.
- 04
Step 4: At home
We show you where to press, and how and when to take the seeds off.
Good to know
Before and after
What you may feel afterward
Some people feel a little tenderness where a seed sits. Some find the tape itchy. Take a seed off if it bothers you.
Tell us first
Allergies to tape or adhesive, how far along you are, and anything your doctor or midwife has said. We adjust, or suggest other care.
How many visits
Seeds are usually part of a visit rather than a visit of their own. We suggest what to try, and it is a suggestion, not a promise. Results vary.
What it does not do, and when to see a doctor
It does not replace your doctor, your midwife, your medicine or emergency care. See your doctor or midwife first for bleeding, severe or sudden pain, a fever, or a baby who moves less than usual. In an emergency, call 911.
